Effective February 1, Florian Baumgartner will become Vista’s new CEO. He succeeds Robert Keane, who is now handing over responsibility to his successor after another four years in this position. However, Keane will remain with the company as Chairman of the Board and CEO of Vista’s parent company Cimpress.
In October 2019, Florian Baumgartner joined Vista as President International within the Executive Team, where he was responsible for the business of Vista’s international country teams and production operations. His responsibilities also included the global promotional products business, customer support, and the design and service business units, including Depositphotos, VistaCreate and 99designs by Vista.
To his new position as CEO of Vista, Baumgartner brings many years of experience and expertise from his previous professional positions: He held various leadership positions at Amazon, including helping to develop and scale the company’s European retail and fresh produce businesses. Prior to that, Florian Baumgartner worked for many years as a strategy consultant at McKinsey & Company. Florian Baumgartner studied Business Administration and Management and holds a PhD in Entrepreneurship/Entrepreneurial Studies and Innovation Management respectively.
In his new position as CEO of Vista, Robert Keane believes Baumgartner’s passion and experience regarding customers will be of particular help. “He sets the bar high for himself and his teams, especially in terms of talent and execution,” Keane says. These qualities would be a perfect fit for the leadership style Vista needs for the future.
The appointment of Florian Baumgartner as Vista’s new CEO marks the end of four years for Robert Keane, during which he held dual roles as CEO of both Vista and Cimpress. His position as Vista CEO was intended from the outset as an interim solution – and now the right time has come to return full-time to his role as chairman of the board and CEO of Cimpress, according to the official announcement from Cimpress.
As CEO of Vista, Florian Baumgartner’s top priority will be to drive Vista’s refocus on new product development.
