When people talk about automation, they usually mean production itself. However, Esko, as a specialist in packaging software, is now going one step further with its latest cooperation. Through the recently announced technology partnership with the French start-up Packitoo, Esko is integrating its software into a tool that is primarily used in sales departments.
In the broadest sense, Packitoo HIPE, as the French company’s solution is called, is a web-to-pack solution. In a narrower sense, however, according to Thomas Othax, CEO of the company founded in 2017, it is primarily a “sales tool specifically for folding carton and corrugated board packaging”. The aim is to digitize the packaging industry from lead generation to production. With the Esko solutions ArtiosCAD, the new generation of the Automation Engine and Share & Approve, additional functions for structural design, workflow automation and the approval process have now been integrated into HIPE.
According to the developers, HIPE itself records all leads, documents and projects, both from online inquiries and internal sales activities, centrally and should therefore help to make the administration of sales processes more efficient. The software developer promises time savings, particularly in the area of quotation creation/calculation. Some modules in HIPE can automate some of the processes. For example, the configurator, which is linked to Esko’s ArtiosCAD and is intended to automate the design of individual customer inquiries by sales staff. Cost calculation, on the other hand, can be accelerated and automated via a pricing module.
According to Packitoo, the Esko solutions will in future form a central part of the HIPE software, which, in addition to the packaging configuration tool and the pricing and approval tool already described, also includes a CRM and general functions for project and order management.
