The print-and-packaging platform sourc-e is now supported by a new investor: The digital agency nexum is investing in the start-up founded in Cologne in 2016. “With nexum, we have brought additional expertise and a partner on board with whom we can continue our market penetration in D-A-CH and our international growth strategy,” says sourc-e CEO and founder Lucas Scherer. Despite pandemic-related market fluctuations, his company is in a growth phase, he adds. The start-up is expected to continue to act independently and autonomously.
According to nexum CFO Dirk Steinmetz, the investor also wants to actively support sourc-e, especially in the areas of finance, sales and marketing: “On the one hand, we want to secure access to innovative platform solutions that meaningfully complement our core business,” says Steinmetz. “On the other hand, we are also convinced that as partners we will mutually benefit from our network and expertise.”
sourc-e founders Lucas Scherer and Felix Severin offer their users a cloud-based platform whose algorithm calculates offers in real time from a pool of print shops for print and packaging. Companies can compare offers from different print shops and enter their requirements. Print jobs can then be started depending on requirements. Customers include Vaillant, Vorwerk, About You and BARMER. sourc-e currently employs 15 people.
Due to the boom in online retailing, the niche occupied by sourc-e remains highly relevant: Individual packaging and printing solutions are increasingly in demand. According to its own information, sourc-e offers potential savings in the double-digit percentage range through the digitization and automation of print purchasing – a margin that is equally interesting for B2B customers and investors.
