A few days have now passed since this year’s Online Print Symposium and delegates have been able to digest all the insights gained from the presentations and networking opportunities. I can tell you this – the feedback about every part of the event has been thoroughly positive. And for this reason we have again decided this year to show all the keynote videos here at beyond-print. I should like to begin with Prof. Piller. The organizing team consisting of zipcon, bvdm and Fogra was able to sign him up to give the opening keynote and participate in the panel discussion.
What can you expect content-wise?
Customer-specific solutions are the key – if they are then to be managed at mass-productions levels of efficiency. Prof. Piller is familiar with many sectors of industry and is convinced that some – according to my definition “transformed” – print providers are streets ahead of the many others in terms of digitalization and mass customization, which is why the online print industry is playing a kind of a vanguard role.
Personalized print matters! In other words mass customization is a massive opportunity in the print business. What matters is not forgetting to scale your business! That’s because print + customization can be regarded, according to Prof. Piller’s statement, as the most profitable business model ever – but this doesn’t just involve ink on paper. In his keynote he also incorporated experience in adapted form from other sectors, which is why his presentation raised, in a positive sense, a number of questions in the minds of delegates that were worthy of discussion, and which were still being discussed during the evening get-together.
