It is just under one and a half years ago that Electronics for Imaging (EFI) spun off its production software division and sold it to Symphony Technology Group. Now the division, which has since been operating on the market as eProductivity Software (ePS), has implemented a first step towards further growth – and acquired the British MIS provider Tharstern.

The days of having the broadest possible portfolios are over. At least at Electronics for Imaging (EFI). After the company had already separated from its software division more than a year ago, it was announced last week that the Fiery business will also be spun off into a separate company effective immediately. EFI itself intends to focus exclusively on its industrial inkjet business in the future.

Metrix, Directsmile, Dims!, Lector, Gamsys, Alphagraph, Printleader, Technique: it is almost ten years ago that EFI took over all these software houses and integrated their solutions into its own portfolio. Since then, the American company has been considered a real heavyweight in production software for print and packaging service providers. Now EFI has spun off the entire division and sold it to the private equity firm Symphony Technology Group (STG).
