Christmas is not so far away. There are some people that may have thoughts of fleeing – just leave their wet and cold homelands and head for the sun. Others have been planning the holidays for months as a culinary highlight to be shared with their children, grandma and grandpa. And this also ok.
An exciting year is coming to an end in which a lot has happened – some of which has also left its mark on the online and print industry. Interesting market developments, as well as industry-relevant laws and judgements, new trends and technology – but above all numerous stimulating discussions, thoughts and ideas, for which I would like to sincerely thank you. Also, the beyondprint blog was accompanied by beyondprint unplugged printed. Meanwhile, six issues of the “Print Innovation Award” winning newspaper have already been published. And we will continue to do more in 2020. Decision-makers in Austria and Switzerland will also enjoy the newspaper.
However, it is not only a year that is coming to an end, but also a decade. One that never really had a real name. Nobody really talks about the “tens of years”. And yet the years after 2010 were still tough: Online print has established itself massively on the market and has infected the entire printing industry, if not completely turned it upside down. Now the 20s are coming. In the last century it was the “Golden Twenties” with their economic upturn in the industrial countries that brought with them a heyday of art, culture and science. It remains to be seen whether we will be able to experience those “roaring twenties” again.
In the hope of this, however, I would like to say goodbye to my blog for this year and wish you and your families a blessed Christmas, a few reflective days, much success for 2020 and a happy helping hand on all sides as well as the courage to make the right decisions. Hopefully my greetings will also be accompanied by a short respite to pause and take a deep breath in these hectic times.
In the new year, starting in mid-January, I will once again be reporting on current topics, trends and technologies as well as innovations from the printing and media industry – and beyond. I am looking forward to the coming year and to the opportunity to work with you towards new innovative and successful paths.
With this in mind, I would like to extend my warmest greetings to you.
Your Bernd Zipper.
Short note: Yes, beyondprint is my blog but without the active support of Jessica, Janina, Max, Fabian, Sabrina, Daniela, Nicola and Dörte this would not be possible. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support – you are a fantastic team. And my heartfelt thanks especially to Nico, who, together with myself, is following the path of success as a media maker with the new publication, Beyondprint Unplugged.
