Wait a minute! drupa is the world’s No. 1 printing trade fair, but why are printers themselves exhibiting there, I.e. those for whom the trade fair is actually made. They exhibit here to present something to their competitors. An upside down world. Or is it? What on earth is that all about? Ok, let’s take a look:

WIRmachenDRUCK in Hall 4 (E21) presents an impressive portfolio of services and is looking for network partners, resellers and perhaps also new print producers. Gelato AS in Hall 9 (A06) will be showing GelatoConnect, a solution that printers can connect to in order to produce for gelato customers – but also to become part of the constantly growing mass customization network. Print.com, also an online printer, will be exhibiting in Hall 7a (D04). The focus here is on the search for resellers as well as network partners. Right next door in the same hall, Cloudprinter.com B.V. (A20) will be showcasing its portfolio. This company also offers a production network and is open to potential resellers and producers – worldwide. Infowerk, another online printing company, will be exhibiting in Hall 9 (C42).

But what is the background? What they all have in common is a – in each case individual – network concept combined with a comprehensive portfolio of “ready-to-use integrations” to all possible procurement and online store solutions in conjunction with very strong API interfaces.

And the very fact that these print service providers are presenting at drupa demonstrates a new spirit: global cooperation, transparency and smart networking instead of clumsy competition. You could take a look and think about it. Not suitable for every printer, but for some companies this could mean new sales. Let’s see!
